C. A. Waldman combines a lifelong love of nature, a keen interest in Native California culture, and a desire to empower girls, in her writing for ages eight and up.  A former elementary school teacher and software engineer, she holds a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from the Northwest Institute of Literary Arts. She and her husband divide their time between an art studio near Los Angeles, California, and their home in the beautiful canyon where these stories take place.
